About

Engineering To Excel is a YouTube channel and tutorial library that helps people get better at engineering by building real things.

Engineering To Excel started on YouTube with a simple goal: help people get curious about how the world works, and get better at engineering in school, in their careers, and in their communities.

This site is the written companion to the videos. Watching a build is a good way to see how a project goes together. Following written steps is a better way to build one, because you can read at your own speed, copy the code, and check the parts list before you buy anything. There may be some tutorials that are exclusive to YouTube or to this site. Let us know if you see something missing on one or the other that you'd like to see on both.

How to use a guide#

  1. Watch the video once through to see the whole build.
  2. Check the bill of materials and order what you need.
  3. Work down the checklist. The page remembers which steps you have ticked, on the device you are using.
  4. If something does not match, read the troubleshooting section, then ask in the video comments.

Safety#

Every project here is meant to be built carefully. Wear eye protection for anything that cuts, launches, or solders. Work with mains power unplugged. Adults should supervise younger builders.

Some links in the parts lists are Amazon affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. The price you pay does not change, and the links help fund the next build.
